I'm 0.5 years old!

That's right, it has been 6 months since I was born! Mommy and Daddy think I've changed a LOT this month! They say I am sleeping better, eating more, and am generally a happier baby than I was a month ago.

I continue to sleep well at night, and am even napping well. I am starting to understand that I can go to sleep on my own, without Mommy's help. I've decided that I LOVE rice cereal! I eat it 3 times a day and can't get enough of it! Mommy said we can stop nursing now that I am 6 months old. That's fine with me; I never liked nursing anyway. I am sitting up all by myself, but I still fall over a lot. I am a wiggler, especially when I'm getting my diaper changed. The funny thing is that I still can't roll off of my tummy most of the time. I love to reach for whatever is in front of me. That makes it hard to read the newspaper with me on your lap. I also love grabbing Mommy's hair and pulling really hard.

I am beginning to understand that "Micah" is me. I like to make sounds, scream, and spit! I still don't have any teeth, but I can't keep my hands out of my mouth! My cradle cap has gotten a lot worse. I'm glad it's on the back side of my head so it doesn't show up in pictures! I am still a little guy but my legs and tummy are getting fatter. My knees have dimples now!

S'Wonderful

The most amazing thing happened yesterday. It was naptime (Micah's, not Mommy's). I rocked Micah as usual, until he was basically asleep but not quite, and put him down in the crib. And as usual, he promptly became wide awake, pushed up on his hands and looked around. This is usually followed by fusses, cries, wails, etc, which make me have to pick him up and bounce him before he spirals completely out of control and misses the nap altogether. However, yesterday, he simply laid his head back down, closed his eyes, and went to sleep immediately without a peep! This has never, ever happened before. I wasn't sure what to do this time, so I did a little victory dance outside his room :) Ked and I have tried many methods with Micah to produce this napping result (let cry, don't let cry, rocking, sound machine, etc). It's a good reminder for me that regardless of what I try, Micah will become a good napper on HIS schedule, not mine!

WARNING

Gazing at these pictures for too long will make you want to steal our baby. He looks really, really cute in his winter hat. You will become mesmerized by his cuteness and want him for your very own. Please, peruse at your own risk.

Let it NOT snow. Please.

I'm sure these pictures don't do justice to how much snow we have on the ground here. The normal snowfall amount by this time in the season is 26.5 inches. So far this winter we've had 48.2 inches. Help.

Jump Up Jump Up and Get Down

As you may have noticed from recent pics, Micah is always chewing on his hands. Always. He's also a perpetual candidate in the best baby wet t-shirt contest. . . hopefully this means that a tooth will be coming soon. One of the few things to distract him from teething is jumping in his new (well, borrowed) Jumperoo! Check it out!

Sit and Be Fit

Another milestone to report! Our little 5 1/2 month old is officially sitting up on his own. He can sit for 20 minutes at a time unassisted. Of course he has the occasional bobbles where he ends up toppling over, but he does quite well overall. I'm guessing it's easier to sit up when you're a small baby without much weight to balance (around 14.5 lbs). Mommy loves this stage!

How's your VD?

Micah would like to wish you all a Happy Valentines Day! He gave us a great gift of sleeping well last night. Right now, I'd take sleep over flowers or chocolate any day!

Fun with Lauren

Micah's cousin Lauren came over to play today and they had a great time! They play together very well (translation: Lauren plays while Micah watches her). Lauren loves to show My-da (that's how she says it) how to use all his fun toys. She also loves throwing his dirty clothes down the laundry chute and chasing Loco! Since I usually post pictures in threes, here are 3 from today.

Best Buds

Micah and his friend Harry look innocent now, but don't be fooled. They're likely to get into all kinds of trouble and drive their Moms crazy in a few months!

FYI: Harry is 3 months younger than Micah; but weighs about 3 pounds more. I guess we should start feeding Micah more than once a day. . .

Super Tuesday

Today is Super Tuesday because Mommy got eight solid hours of sleep without stirring even once! Daddy didn't do quite as well, but we won't dwell on that. . .

Baby It's Cold Outside

Thanks to Micah's cousins Jessi and Natalie for knitting him this adorable hat and scarf. How cute!
