Eli's Birthday Party!

We had a delightful time at Eli's Fire Truck Birthday Party. Eli was so good, in fact, that we almost forgot he was here! He just sat in his high chair quietly, ate well with no assistance, and enjoyed watching all his friends. Ahh, the joys of being the 2nd born.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of Eli's big day. We enjoyed having all of you celebrate with us.

The adults at the party played a little game of our own: see how many songs you can think of with the word "fire" in the lyrics. Ryan R. cleaned house with twelve songs! People reading this who weren't at the party: what "fire" song lyrics can you think of? Maybe you'll come up with one that we didn't!

Backfire City

Friday night we went to La Casa to celebrate Eli's birthday (side note: he wanted to go to Burger King but we manipulated him into choosing La Casa. Totally worth it.). It was very busy when we arrived, and we had to stand and wait for a while. To keep Micah occupied, I thought I'd be a super Mom. So I asked him to find and point to something red. Then, find and point to something blue. And so on. Well, he did this pretty quickly, and I was running low on colors. So in a moment of brilliance, I asked him to find something grey. Imagine my elation when he pointed to an older lady standing quite close to us and shouted, "GREY HAIR!!"

2 years ago today I had a baby

Happy Birthday, little Eli. You are such a sweet, joyful, caring, silly boy. How could anyone NOT love this face?

I am often told by others how much they love your sweet personality. Your joy is infectious, even to your (frequently) crabby mother! You make everyone around you smile. You give the best hugs! Your vocabulary is amazing and we love listening to you. What a wonderful addition you have been to our family. Though it's only been 2 years, I can't even remember life without you!

You love to copy everything your brother does.

And you always have crazy hair!

Eli's Silly Hair

Before and After: Kitchen Edition

We continue to make updates to the first floor of Yellow House. We painted the kitchen way back in January. I've just recently oiled the cupboards, changed the hardware, and hung a little decor on the walls. If we're feeling brave, we might change the flooring this summer, but for now these improvements will do!

After. I'm still looking for a small cabinet or dresser to put under the hanging basket.

The old hardware from the previous owner was truly terrible (but if you disagree with me, I have a bag of 30 of these old flowery ceramic knobs that you can have!).

The cupboards were really beat up looking, but a little wood oil/vegetable oil treatment took care of most of the scratches.
