Best. Birthday. Ever.

My birthday was last Monday, and my slick husband surprised me with a night away at Hotel Patee in Perry! He arranged for his mom to come stay with the boys, and he wouldn't tell me where we were going until we got there. This hotel is AWESOME!!! We enjoyed a fancy room with whirlpool tub, free bowling in their basement bowling alley (!!), and dinner in their nice restaurant.

Any husbands who are reading this: YOUR WIFE WOULD LOVE A NIGHT IN THIS HOTEL.

A Most Accommodating Ultimatum

Micah, telling me what he wanted for a snack today:

"I ONLY want graham crackers with milk. Or, if you say no, I'll have something else."

This is a great summation of my day thus far

Eli, to me, after I have gotten completely ready for the day: "You need to brush your hair, Mommy."

Me: "I already brushed it!"

(brief pause as he studies my hair again)

Eli: "But it still looks funny."

Oh, Eli

Eli, giggling at our cat: "He has marbles in his eyes!"

Can You Believe. . .

. . . that it took until TODAY - January 17th - for me to realize that I didn't have a snow scraper in my car?

A Sweet Moment Worth Remembering

Micah and I, walking to school this morning, holding hands:

Me: We're across the street now; do you want to let go of my hand?

Micah: No.

Me: I love it when you hold my hand! Did you know that when kids get older, sometimes they don't want to hold their Mom's hand any more?

Micah, incredulously: WHY?

Me: I guess they think they're too big or too old to hold hands.

Micah: I'll get older, but I'll always want to hold your hand.

Eli's Word

Eli has made up his own word: "be-toward."

Definition: next to, near

Used in a sentence: "The blue train is be-toward the stairs."

My Husband, the Caucus Rock Star

Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but Kedron is getting contacted by reporters from all over the nation to provide his insight into tomorrow's caucuses. Here is his quote in the Boston Herald. He was also interviewed for ABC Radio a few days ago.

With all due respect to my husband, there are very few opportunities for political scientists to be cool, so I thought I'd highlight him now while the opportunity is here!
