Pictoral response to: "How old are you?"

I probably shouldn't post this in case any of you secretly work for DHS

Eli took a tumble yesterday at the park. He only fell about 6 inches, but unfortunately, he did a headfirst dive. He landed right on his forehead on the metal mesh flooring of the playground. These pictures don't really do it justice, but the forehead bump is raised and quite purple. Poor little guy. He only cried for a few minutes though, and then was fine the rest of the night!

The Bachelorette: Week 6 Discussion

I know the episode hasn't aired yet, but I didn't want this to be the most recent post for the rest of the week. So enjoy tonight's show and comment away tomorrow morning!

The Bachelorette: Week 5 Discussion

We could discuss this week's lackluster episode, or we could discuss this. Hmm. . . I'll bet no one saw this coming at all :)

Micah Bardwell: Master Loopholer

Earlier today, as Micah and Eli were playing trains:
Micah: "No, that's mine! No, that's mine!"
Me: Micah, you need to share with your brother. You can't say, 'No, that's mine' any more.

One second later:
Micah: "No, that's . . . (pause). . . Micah's!"

I'm probably jinxing things by saying this

Without going into any kind of inappropriate detail, I am happy to report that potty training Micah is going SO well! I had really geared myself up for a long, frustrating process, but everything has gone so smoothly so far. He is wearing underwear all day at home now (except for sleep times) and is doing so with very few accidents.

It's no secret that Micah is not an easygoing, compliant child. Actually, not much about raising Micah would we classify as "easy." So we are just shocked that he's taken to using the potty so quickly. I know we have a long way to go, but am so thrilled we've come this far so quickly.

Keep it up, Micah Man!

The Bachelorette: Week 4 Discussion

OK, I don't really want to even discuss crazy-tattoo-mouth-full-of-peanut-butter-sounding-guy. But I would like to hear your prediction on who supposedly has the girlfriend.

I don't want to brag. . .

. . . but if building toy train tracks was a spiritual gift, I would have it.

It's official. I've lost it.

It's no secret that I'm not good at remembering special occasions. If you're reading this, chances are about 20-30% that I've ever sent you a birthday card. And anniversaries? We barely celebrate our own. Despite this, I was quite proud of what I had planned for Father's Day this year. It involved sending Kedron to Walmart a few days ago, so Micah and I could work on a surprise list of things that he loves about Daddy. We wrote them down on separate papers, and Micah colored each of them.

Then, this morning, when Ked was in the shower, we hid them around the living room. Then Ked got to hunt for them, Easter Egg hunt style. Fun was had by all.

All things considered, I thought this Father's Day event was a success. It's too bad that when we got to church today and I wished some other man a happy Father's Day, only THEN did I find out that Father's Day isn't until next Sunday.

Fantastic.

Fun at the Pool

Here we are at our 1st visit to the pool this summer. I'm sure this is the first of many, many swims this summer. That is, if we can continue to round up the 574 things needed to take 2 little ones to the pool (swim diapers, sunscreen, Eli's hat, 2 sippy cups, towels, extra swim diapers, floaty toy, money, sandals, etc.).

O Happy Day

The Bachelorette: Week 3 Discussion

A few questions come to mind:

1. Is anyone still watching?
2. WHY does everyone hate the wrestler guy?
3. How come she's only kicking off 2-3 guys each week? Can't we knock off like 7 or so at once and get a move on?

You Can't Always Get What You Wa - annt

. . . But you apparently think you can if you're 2 1/2.

Me: No, you can't have another cookie.
Micah: But I WANT another cookie.

Me, later: Micah, stop screaming. Your brother is sleeping.
Micah: But I WANT to scream.

Me, even later: Micah, stop kicking Eli.
Micah: But I WANT to kick Eli.
