The Week in Random Pics

Micah climbed up in the chair by himself for the first time. He was quite proud of himself!

Here are the pregnant Govig sisters - Can you guess which one of us is due first?

We went to the State Wrestling Finals this past weekend. We got to sit in the box seat areas so there was plenty of space for Micah and Lauren to run around. It's hard to get a good still shot of these two!! Here they are with their "loveys" - Hurley (Micah's bear)and Roger (Lauren's dog).

Micah was awake later than he has ever been (we left after 9pm) but he did OK. It took a few days to get him back to "normal" but he really enjoyed the arena and seeing all the action!

Name Update

We are not any closer to deciding on a name for Baby #2. Ked and I are kind of deadlocked. We each have a personal favorite name, but unfortunately neither of us likes the other's favorite name. I've had a few people tell me, "just wait until the baby's born and see what he looks like." Umm - have you ever SEEN a newborn? If we do that, our son could easily be named "Lizardface" or "Conehead" or, if he's lucky, "Generic Blonde Baby Bardwell." No thanks. This name thing needs to be decided before we get to the hospital.

My fear is that Kedron and I will end up settling on a name that neither of us loves, but that we don't hate either. AAAHHH!

He's a Lover, not a Fighter

He also loves to hug and kiss puzzle pieces, each of his Teddy Grahams (just before he eats them), humidifiers, windows, bed frames, etc. And of course he loves to kiss people; he'll even blow you a kiss if you aren't that comfortable with a possible open-mouth scenario.

Shoe Savvy

I am not a "shoe" girl. They are generally an afterthought when I'm getting dressed. I probably own less than 15 pairs total (and about half of those are cheap flip flops). BUT, Kohls had a big sale this weekend. I got these Naturalizer shoes (regular price $64.99) for $10.23!!

My question: Do I wear socks with these or go sockless? If I can wear socks with them, what kind of socks are acceptable?

A Shout Out to My Dad

My Dad came over yesterday to build some shelves for our garage. Since we're transforming our spare/storage room into Micah's new bedroom, we were in need of some additional storage! He made these great adjustable shelves.

He also made Micah a big boy bed! He used authentic Wyoming wood for the headboard. We're using Micah's crib mattress and hope to transition Micah to this bed some time next month (fingers crossed). It sits only a few inches off the ground so Micah won't hurt himself if (when) he falls out. Dad also made some cool zigzag shelves for Micah's room; I'm currently painting them and will put up pictures when I get them done.

Thanks Dad!

Animal House

Micah is all about lining up his farm animals. He first arranges them on the chair, then moves them to the windowsill, then the end table, always keeping them in a tight row. It keeps him quite entertained! In addition, we've been working on what sounds certain animals make. Papa G taught him what a bear says!

A Dish Best Served Cold

Yesterday, I was reading a book while my son sat next to me playing quietly with his toys. I noticed that he was being unusually quiet, so I look over to see that he's taken our cell phone out of my purse and is playing with it. Since he can operate it better than we can (I'm not exaggerating), I asked him nicely to please give Mommy the phone. He refused. I tried to do the old switcheroo with a fun toy; he was having none of it. After a minute or two, I just pried it out of his hands and told him he couldn't play with our phone.

So how did my innocent, sweet, little 17 month old angel respond? He picked up my purse, walked over to the stairway, and threw it down the stairs.

You know you're old when you get stuff like this for your birthday and LOVE it!

For my birthday a week ago, I got two of the best gifts EVER. The first came from my wonderful husband, who got me a Bissell Spot Lifter 2X. Yep, I got a hand held vacuum cleaner and am excited about it (I specifically suggested this to Ked, so he's not in any way in the doghouse). If you have the urge to come visit us and throw up while you're here, I am now well equipped to handle the mess :) I have gotten to try it out after a small poopy pants incident (Micah's pants, not mine) and it works like a charm. Thanks, Ked; you're the best!!

You'll never guess what my sister got for me. . . . a SNUGGIE!! The best part was that she gave it to me in a restaurant so my husband got to be embarrassed not only over the gift itself, but my excitement at opening it, AND the accompanying card that played "Hangin' Tough" by New Kids on the Block.

Go ahead and make fun of this blanket with sleeves all you want. I dare you to come to our cold basement and use the Snuggie for one night while watching TV and eating a bowl of popcorn. Once you try it, you will never make fun of it again. But until then, if you want to see a really funny voiced-over commercial for this delightful item, click here (be forewarned, there is swearing and very crude language in this commercial so view at your own discretion).
