Funny Words from Micah

Micah and I went to WalMart tonight, and he was very well behaved at the store. I knew that when we got home, Kedron would ask Micah if he was a good boy at the store.

So on the way home, I tried to teach Micah to say, "I was SUPER good!"

We practiced several times, but he wasn't really getting it. I asked him if he'd like to practice saying it again.

He responded with: "No. I'm only two."

Our un-exciting life

Today is our anniversary. I guess.

We celebrated by Ked staying with the boys while I drove home to sing at a funeral. We both forgot until I called him from the road at almost 10am to wish him a happy anniversary. And now, the boys are in bed and we are both exhausted. Another exhilirating anniverary for the record books!!

On a more exciting note, a balloon landed right in front of our house last night. Behenskys, we hope this happens when you are here this weekend!

This post may be as long as the drive to Wyoming.

We had a wonderful time on our first-ever Bardwell family vacay. My parents have built a beautiful cabin in Wyoming and we wanted to help break it in! It had been 4 years since Ked and I had been there, pre-cabin and pre-kids. After a very long ride there, involving some emergency diaper change stops and a trip to urgent care in Cheyenne, we finally made it there! We stayed with Ked's mom in Grand Island on the way there and back, so that did help break up the drive.

We took a hike with the boys in backpack carriers. They were so comfortable for the boys that Eli fell asleep.

The wildflowers were in bloom everywhere. Gorgeous!

We encountered some random (but friendly) horses on our hike. Eli loved them.

Guess what was Micah's favorite part of our visit? Probably the train (see later pictures), but riding the 4 wheeler was a close second.

We drove to Lake Owen to see a caboose and, of course, the lake. It was buggy so we didn't stay too long.

The boys also tried their first Smores. Once Micah figured out they weren't called "snores," he found them to be quite tasty.

We saw a fox, deer, cattle, antelope, horses, and a MOOSE!

Silly boys. Don't ask.

We will definitely NOT wait another 4 years before coming back here!

We're Back!

We just got back from a wonderful vacation to Wyoming!! I'll post much more later, but here are a few pics to whet your appetite.

An Important Rite of Passage

Micah ate his first Icee Pop last night. His Daddy was so proud. I'm sure cousin Lauren would be too, although she'd probably like the picture more if he was wearing a Cyclone shirt :)

Fort for One, Please.

Yesterday the boys got really bored after naptime. I thought, "I'll be a great Mommy and build them a super cool FORT!"

The problem: neither boy would crawl inside for longer than 30 seconds. I finally gave up trying to coax them in, so I crawled inside with a magazine. I actually got some nice quiet time all to myself!

We Love Parades!!

Here in the Bardwell home, we get very excited about a parade. We drove to WDM tonight to see their Independence Day parade. Eli was very happy to watch from his stroller.

Here's Micah showing his patriotism. This lasted until people started throwing candy; then he ditched that pesky flag. After a while, he just resorted to shouting, "Throw your candy!" at every float that went by.

The Camwells joined us for their first ever Iowa parade. Did you know that in Canada, no one throws candy at parades?

That's our Governor. He was only 2 blocks into the very, very long parade route. Kedron saw him and said, "He should change his name to Sweat Culver." Good one, Ked.
