F-A-I-L-U-R-E
Well, the Big Boy Bed Project = Big Fat Failure.
After several weeks of trying to get Micah to successfully sleep in his big boy bed, we have raised our white flag and moved his crib into his room. Prior to Eli's arrival, he was doing OK in the bed, but his naps were half the length they were when he slept in his crib. Then, since the baby came, we were having to return him to his bed 20+ times a night (and almost as many for naps). He has been more irritable since Eli came, and while part of this is "normal" adjustment, we know that a lack of good sleep is just making things worse.
I am disappointed that we've spent so much time and energy getting him to sleep in his bed, and now we're right back where we started 2 months ago. Most of you know how stubborn I am, so it's not been easy for me to admit that this isn't working. But 18-20 months is just too young for Micah to make the move.
On the bright side, Eli is a WONDERFUL baby. He's kind of the "Anti-Micah" in that he makes me understand why people love babies!! Micah cried a lot, didn't nurse well, didn't sleep well, etc. Eli sleeps all the time, nurses well, and rarely cries. Last night, at 11 days old, he slept from midnight to 5am. He has also gained back his birth weight plus at least a half pound more. Yea!!

More Eli Pics
We've had a good day. So far Eli is a really mellow baby (unlike his brother). He's a great eater (also unlike his brother). Despite a rough day (shot, circumcision, heel prick), Eli has been in a good mood and has slept a lot!

He has a lot more hair than Micah did; we'll see if it all falls out!

What a tiring day!

Double the Trouble
We would like to introduce you to...

Eli Nathaniel!
He arrived at about 1:20pm with his own sense of timing. (The doctor "on call" had to rush to the hospital and barely made it).

Mom is doing very well, and baby Eli is healthy and hungry! He looks forward to seeing you in person very soon.

This Week in Random Pics
Last weekend, we had an "Almost Happy 35th Birthday" party for Kedron. Uncle Karlton came from Colorado; Micah was a little unsure of this crazy guy at first but then warmed up to him. In fact, we've heard a lot about "Tee-Toe" (Micah's pronunciation of Karlton) this week!

OK - this is actually a re-enactment of the block tower that Micah built. He knocked over the original one before I could grab the camera. But this one looks exactly the same. I promise. I thought 8 blocks was pretty impressive.
And here I am in my 38 weeks of pregnant splendor. Wow.

No Baby Yet
The baby will be here very soon, but not quite yet. This is a good thing for now, because everyone in our house had a cold. I think I've got it the worst right now - so much for super pregnancy immunity! I am totally congested (I slept in the recliner last night to avoid laying flat so I could breathe) and my throat is so sore that I've basically lost my voice. Please pray for a quick recovery; I don't want to be sick during delivery!

It's a GIRL!!!

Surprise, surprise! Our little bundle arrived 3 weeks early today! Despite what we thought was a very clear boy ultrasound, SHE is a GIRL! Blythe Flora Pearl was born this morning at 4:25am, weighing a whopping 8 lbs 4 oz. I was in labor for 36 hours with no epidural, so thank God she finally arrived!

It's funny; after having a blond baby we never thought we'd have a baby with such dark hair and features. Also funny is that she looks exactly like her cousin Lauren did at birth. . .
